The Challenge
We were approached by a local sculptor and metalworker, Jason Patterson, to provide design and fabrication drawings to enable him to create a prestigious artwork installation in George Square for the Glasgow Commonwealth Games. Initially we had to create a digital 3-D representation of the Commonwealth Games logo and make presentations to the Glasgow City Council Commonwealth Games team to sell the vision and secure the commission.
The Response
Working in close collaboration with Jason Patterson and his structural engineer we devised a strategy for the modular assembly of the large scale installation. A meticulous set of fabrication drawings were produced, with each individual component part being drawn in plan, section and elevation, the intention being that our fabrication drawings could be issued in digital format directly to the steel fabricators for rolling and laser cutting.
