The Challenge
The challenge was to secure statutory approvals & supervise fit out works for vacant retail units for a major brand travel agency. One unit presented onto a busy pedestrianised street in the centre of Dublin and the other was a vacant shell unit in a retail park on the outskirts of Belfast.
The Response
The response was literally a game of two halves, even though the fit outs were for the same operator. No 16 Exchequer Street, Dublin is a mixed-use unit forming part of the historic South City Markets dating from 1876. Constructed from brick in a Victorian Gothic style, 3 storeys of residential sits above ground floor retail. A sensitive approach was needed to impose the retail brand on the frontage. The unit in Belfast was simply a fast track delivery exercise.
