To design an astronomical observatory on an environmentally sensitive hilltop location on the Craigengillan Estate, situated within the Galloway Forest Park. The site is completely off-grid with no utility connections.

We designed a truly sustainable building, constructed entirely from locally sourced materials.   Embracing the off-grid location, the building generates its own power through photo voltaic panels linked to a battery array. It has an on-site waste treatment plant and stand-by generator. The superstructure & cladding are all timber, carefully designed & detailed to address likely differing weathering characteristics.
