The Challenge
The creation of a new centre of excellence based around marine engineering and fabrication facilities, on a heavily contaminated post-industrial site on the Clyde Basin. The Phase 1 project involves multiple planning applications, and addresses complex site issues such as wholesale site remediation, proposed jetty works to form a new heavy lift quay adjacent to the River Clyde deep-water channel, and detailed proposals for a complex marine fabrication hall.
The Response
We have devised a Phased Masterplan to help establish the client’s ambitious vision. Our ongoing involvement includes working with a multi-disciplinary design team to facilitate the initial phases of development. The Scottish Marine Technology Park has been shortlisted in the Scottish Awards for Quality in Planning 2020, under the category of Best Use of Brownfield Land in Placemaking.
